- This week we were curious about why flamingos are pink. (KN) We got a magazine in the mail and it had flamingos in it so we started talking about their color. (Miss D.)
- We learned these facts about flamingos: 1. In the olden days some countries used to eat flamingo tongues. (SS) 2. Their feathers turn a pinkish-orangish color by eating shrimp and algae. (ES) 3. In zoos, flamingos are given a chemical to eat which helps make them even pinker. This is the same chemical that salmon fishers use to make salmon such a pretty color. (Miss D.) 4. Today Miss Dineen and KD both wore a pinkish-orangish color just like they were flamingos!!!! (CC) 5. Some people have tried taking those pink chemical pills, but instead of making them tan, they started to turn orange! (RM)
