Peek at the Week of April 25-30

Welcome back from Spring Break!  I hope everyone had a good time.

This last chunk of the year tends to fly right by.  There are always many traditional year-end events.  Once I have dates & times I will be sure to post them here on the blog.

Math:  We will be taking the Unit 8 Assessment and starting Unit 9 which is called "Measurement and Geometry".

Writing Workshop:  Our "All About____" reports are now hanging on the bulletin board outside of our classroom.  The week before break we started our new writing unit on Realistic Fiction (RF for short).  RF are stories that your child makes up that although they are not real, they are realisitic, meaning that they could happen in real life. We did some brainstorming and planning activities last week and will begin drafting this week.  The final published piece will be a hardcover book!

Reading Workshop:  We will continue to explore the story element of setting and also do some 'Story Mapping' where we will use many different graphic organizers to put together all of the story elements (character, setting, problem and solution) and also retelling important story events in order.
